Margriet Smulders (1955)
Hair Hemisphere
2005 | Ilfochrome with Plexiglas on Dibond | 125 × 162 cm
A whole world lies hidden within Margriet Smulders' flower pictures. These oddly erotic images transport us to a new dimension where reality is an afterthought.
The ‘tail’ in the title of this work may simply refer to the ponytail dangling in the water. But it could also mean the tail of a comet, symbolising a natural disaster and the end to this evocative world of colour.
