I Made This For You & Remember When I Made This For You
2016 | pigment print on Baryta paper, mounted on Alu-Dibond, framed with non-reflecting glass | 140 × 110 cm
To Thomas Albdorf, there’s nothing spontaneous about photography. It’s all constructed and reconstructed – sometimes even in our mind.
Although presented as fact, the first image in this work is fiction. The whole scene, of someone making or doing something with fire as a sign of their love, was staged. In the second image, what was once cherished is now fading – post-processed and digitally compressed, eroded by memory and by time.
