Despite using a preliminary study, the eventual painting was more freely composed and more abstract. Frederique Jonker allowed the paint to flow where it wanted to. Though the result is abstract, you can still distinguish futuristic shapes. When looking at the work at a distance, you could imagine a spaceship, a robot or futuristic city is depicted.
Language is important to Jonker. It’s given an especially big role in her preliminary studies and works on paper. In an earlier stage of this work, she added words like ‘never mind’ and ‘lol’. However, as the painting exists today they can’t be discovered anymore.
