In Las Corredores (the runners), we see two women trying to escape a storm. Instead of working together, however, they’re running in opposite directions and getting nowhere.

They try to hold off the menacing clouds by pushing them up with their hands. In the background, a curtain of rain pours down in black stripes on the blue paper. If you look closely, you’ll see that the woman on the left is wearing shoes and that the other one is barefoot. A sign of inequality?

The woman on the right is grabbing the other’s shoe. This can be both negative and positive: is this an attempt to steal the shoe? Or a gesture of help? After all, it’s easier to run barefoot than in heels.
