Lucebert (1924-1994)
Man-Child
1962 | gouache | 97 × 71 cm
Lucebert once wrote a poem called ‘Poetry Is Child’s Play’. Can the same be said of art?
Lucebert was just as much as poet as he was a visual artist. In his poetry, he used sequences of sounds to create associations with words. In this work on paper, he uses simple shapes in earth tones to create associations with the face and body of a child-like figure.
