Evelyn Taocheng Wang is interested in what it means to have – and express – an identity.
This work shows a mixture of Dutch and Asian influences. The red stamps are an Eastern Asian sign of authenticity. These are combined with Dutch sayings, both hand-written and printed. The material itself feels Asian: rice paper with black ink, which lends itself to the autobiographical and the poetic in equal measure.
