One of Guido Geelen’s aims with this series is to highlight the disappearance of butterflies around the world. But that’s only part of the story.

The butterflies in this work form an imaginary shield around the figure and represent Indo-Australian species. Even though the display case gives the appearance of safety, the body parts have been severed and given their own shelf, hinting at an awful history.
