Theme

The ING Talent Award (previously the New Talent Photography Award) invited five emerging photographers from Europe to create a photographic work on the theme of Innovative.

Anne Geene

Jury Prize Winner

Anne Geene won the ING Talent Award. On the theme of Innovative, Anne took photos of leaves that she picked from a tree in Berlin. For Geene, nature can be very innovative. The final shape of a plant is not fixed. During their lifetime, they can change shape and adapt to the circumstances. The tree in Berlin was in the shade for most of the day. The leaves would grow around the corner to find the sun.

“They seem to turn away from the ruling order with apparent ease," said the artist. With this award, Geene won a multi-day workshop at the Paris Photo photography fair under the supervision of Marcel Feil, assistant artistic director of FOAM.

Maurice van Es

Public Prize Winner

Maurice van Es was awarded the Public Prize for his work Fire. This was the first year that the Public Prize was included in the awards programme. Van Els received an art commission for ING.

Rineke Dijkstra

During the creative training part of programme, the finalists were coached by one of most successful photographers of the Netherlands, Rineke Dijkstra.
