ING Discerning Eye Purchase Prize added to UK Art Collection
ING has acquired Rochelle Ayele’s painting ‘Chale Wote’ for its UK Art Collection. This vibrant painting was inspired by Rochelle’s visit to Africa's annual Street Art festival in Accra, Ghana. Rochelle was awarded the ING Purchase Prize at the 2021 ING Discerning Eye Exhibition. She receives £5000 and her artwork is now hanging in ING’s London office.
Hybrid Exhibition
The annual ING Discerning Eye Exhibition celebrates the very best in contemporary British art and introduces UK-based artists to new audiences. This year, for the first time ever, all the artworks are available through a new hybrid format. The works were available to view at the Mall Galleries in November and are available to purchase online via www.ingdeexhibition.org until 31 December. This is the 23rd year of ING’s sponsorship - making it one of the longest-standing corporate arts sponsorships in the UK.
The 2021 Selectors
The ING Discerning Eye Exhibition contains small works independently assembled by six selectors. Work is drawn from a nationwide open submission and from artists invited by the individual selectors - a process unique to the ING Discerning Eye that provides lesser-known artists with a rare opportunity to show their work alongside that of internationally recognised names. The 2021 selectors were: actor Russell Tovey, artist Peter Brown, artist Adelaide Damoah, journalist Anna Brady, architect Roland Cowan and former CEO of Discerning Eye Tony Humphreys.
