Carla Accardi (1924-2014)
Accende le polveri rosa
1999 | Acrylic on canvas | 120 x 161 cm
From 1945, a group of Italian artists, including Carla Accardi, aspired to social and cultural renewal. They advocated a free and abstract art.
It was in this context that Carla Accardi developed a subjective and vitalist abstraction, characterized by a painting-writing-sign. The canvas is entirely covered with organic, sensual, and labyrinthine forms. The raw linen shows through an interweaving of large waves of fluorescent colours that seem to emerge from the canvas.
