In a world where life without computers is hardly imaginable, Peter Struycken was way ahead of his time. He’s been using them for his art since 1969.
Struycken uses computers to calculate the underlying structure for his paintings. Everything must be logical, controllable and consistent. Once he finds the right combination, he can substitute all sorts of colours to create the same visual effect. The words he uses to describe how he fine-tunes his work are even the same as the settings for a computer screen: brightness, contrast, colour profile…
