Melissa Gordon (1981)
The view from inside (Peggy)
2024 | silkscreen, pigment and acrylic on canvas | 200 × 150 cm
This work is part of the Myopic Views series, for which Melissa Gordon visited artists’ studios and photographed their view to the outside. What makes this project special is that she engages with fellow artists in a place that would otherwise be completely individual.
Myopia, or near-sightedness, makes objects in the distance appear blurry. The term near-sightedness also refers to being short-sighted: lacking foresight. Gordon transforms the exterior view into an imaginative space of painterly abstraction.
