Vera Gulikers’ interpretation of Bazar du Quai, Port au Prince, Haiti by Lois Mailou Jones has what she might call a female touch.
Although the original work still shows through, this version is more dynamic and a bit abstract. Gulikers is interested in the relationship between stereotypical domestic activities and art. She also works with cleaning agents and stain removers and feels that painting and cleaning are interconnected as a ‘female activity’
