Alessandro Fillippini (1946)
Vache-miroir
1971 | Oil on wood, mirror | 120 x 136 x 1 cm
A multidisciplinary artist, adept at both photography and sculpture, Alessandro Filippini creates works that favour a close relationship with the viewer.
We are familiar with his group self-portraits in which he stages himself in different attitudes, a multiplication that creates confusion, as does this Cow-mirror. While contemplating it, the viewer is ipso facto integrated into it, just like the environment facing him. This historic work, emblematic of his work at the time, also constitutes a skilful synthesis between pop art and arte povera through the catapulting of the figure and the materials it provokes.
