Matthias Koch (1967-1967)
Dunes, 03
2004 | lambda c-print on Diasec | 84 × 120 cm
This photograph by Matthias Koch shows what seems to be a hostile Martian environment. While not alien, there was indeed a time when it was deadly to be there.
This is actually a dune landscape of Vauville (Normandy) in France. Torn open during the Second World War, the scarred land and bomb craters here have been reclaimed by nature. This work is part of Koch’s Places in History series.
