Have you ever thought about how modern technology can transform the traditional art of painting? Amélie Bertrand combines traditional techniques with modern, digital influences. She uses lively colours and virtuous colour transitions to create impossible light effects. Her work is made up of recognisable elements like bricks, flowers, window bars, chains and swimming pool tiles. Together, these motifs form believable yet alienating landscapes that were developed on a computer and then applied to canvas in one thin layer of oil paint.

In Hyper Nuit, Bertrand transforms geometric shapes into water lilies, inspired by Claude Monet. These flowers symbolise birth and rebirth thanks to their ability to rise out of the water.
