Imaginable Narration

2024 | ink and acrylic ink on wood | 42 × 30 cm

Graphic artist Vincent de Boer, with a background in calligraphy, is able to create a whole range of nuances with a single flowing brushstroke. His work exudes concentration, control and craftsmanship. Its success can be judged by the energy of the moment at which it is made. Using small calligraphy brushes, he builds up large drawings line by line as he creates figures, signs and symbols by varying the pressure of the brush.

He draws much inspiration from different writing systems, such as our alphabet or his version of Chinese characters. This work, executed on a wooden panel, is made up of figures in the colours orange, mint, beige, purple and black.
