It may be small, but this painting of a man and his dog in a red microcar is big on emotion.
This scene is based on reality: artist Pieter Pander’s retired neighbour Mr Jongema would always drive with his poodle next to him in the passenger seat. Pander switched the poodle for a more aggressive looking dog to keep the painting from being too cute.
