Our hut
2003 | oil paint on board | 60 × 80 cm
Gerrie Wachtmeester’s spooky portrayal of the northern Dutch landscape always comes with a twist.
The only real sense of motion in this desolate landscape is the tall evergreen that strangely seems to rise from atop the hut, like a plume of smoke from a fire stoked by people whose presence we may sense but cannot see.
