Inspired by how images were used in Pop Art, Woody van Amen’s work combines the unexpected.

One thing the Pop Art movement was known for was layering completely unrelated materials. In this work, Van Amen paints Japanese koi on a background showing the snow-covered Matterhorn. The arrangement of the fish and the markings below them are modelled on the Chinese character for ‘fish’.
