By combining woodcuts and video – some of art’s earliest and latest reproduction processes – Christiane Baumgartner brings standstill and speed together.

Baumgartner works almost exclusively in the art of woodcut, but her pieces are based on her own video stills. These two works depict the same motorway filmed from inside a car during the night, but only a couple of seconds apart.
