In her Atlantic Coast series, Samoylova traces the complexities of American identity through a contemporary lens. For this, she embarked on a photographic journey from Key West, Florida, to Fort Kent, Maine.
This photograph was taken after a big flood plagued Fort Lauderdale. This is not immediately apparent, until you realise it’s rather strange someone has put their entire wardrobe of jeans up to dry. The persistent nationalism of the region is reflected in the American flag that’s on the same clothing line.
