While Marthe Röling is probably best known for her eccentric personality – and her portrait of Queen Beatrix – perhaps a dove best captures her true spirit.
Besides Röling’s many paintings and drawings, she also makes sculptures, of which this golden dove is a beautiful example. Röling lives in a commune with four other artists, with whom she sometimes collaborates.
