FreelingWaters is an artist duo formed by Gijs Frieling and Job Woutes. Together, they work on the cutting edge of painting, graphic design and furniture design. They use pigments and casein glue for their work, an old technique based on milk protein that creates intense, long-lasting colours. This traditional process can be challenging, as the quick drying time makes accuracy essential: mistakes cannot be fixed or erased.
This mural was made specially for the ING House in Zwolle. The artistic duo was inspired by the theme of artisan methods, Magic and Northern Realist art from the ING Collection, items from ING’s corporate history archives and personal possessions of this office’s employees – all of which is reflected in the mural.
