Although the work of Lieven Hendriks is of photographic quality, every piece is entirely painted. The artist emphasises the flat plane of the painting by leaving his fingerprints on both edges of the canvas. At the same time, this is a reference to the workmanship of painting. The fingerprints are the traces of this craft, of touching the canvas while the paint is still wet.
