With her delicate, almost transparent style, Hester Schroor exposes uncomfortable emotions in a way that makes them feel natural.
The woman holding an egg in this painting certainly is not beaming with joy. In a way, though, she seems to be okay with that. The fish is more of an enigma. Schroor takes the animals in her paintings from Japanese, Egyptian and other myths. They often have a double or triple meaning.
