Sculpture DP-VIII
2005 | American oak and polyester | 110 × 135 × 120 cm
Dušan Džamonja worked primarily with traditional materials but re-invented how to use them in his sculptures.
In Sculpture DP-VIII, he paired one traditional material, American oak, with something new: polyester. This is part of a series in which the artist used small blocks of oak in various shades to create an acorn. The result was an organic shape combined with a geometric structure – part open, part closed.
