Scientists believe that the mere sight and sound of birds has a positive effect on our mood. These cheerful works of art do that too. Not only are they a treat to see, but they're also functional: they’re birdhouses. Thanks to the lively colours and the part organic, part geometric shapes, these tiny houses refer to existing objects or characters.

It might not be something you think about every day, but birds are vital to biodiversity and our society. Every bird plays a special role in nature. Many species of birds are endangered because of our modern way of life. To stop that from happening, artists Martine Feipel and Jean Bechameil have created a new kind of place for them to live, in the hope of helping birds integrate into our living space while giving some cheer back to nature.
