Titanic II
1995 | wood and metal | 52 × 170 × 17 cm
Backlighted by white lights, giving it an ethereal glow, Jeroen Henneman’s Titanic II is an exploration of man’s triumphs and failures.
This sculptural work depicts a skyline of illuminated skyscrapers that are arranged in the shape of a large ship, referring in this case to the Titanic. The skyscrapers represent all that humankind is able to create and construct, while the Titanic represents failure and warns against getting too self-confident.
